In their imaginations, the women splash the men with permanent green dye; they form an Anti-Splash Support Group; they drug the men and vacation in Egypt; they serve only non-alcoholic drinks and high-fiber snacks; and they drill holes in all the buckets.

I think I'm going to move to Slovakia... where you get to whip women while enjoying a wet t-shirt contest, and when it's over they pay you to drink their beer :)
I couldn't believe this when I heard it, so I had to look it up. It's an old tradition that isn't that common any more from what I see. You don't have to go back that far in US history to get to our skeletons of traditions... think civil rights a mere 50 years ago! Seriously, it could be worse.
Jesse, I didn't just make it up. And I can tell you that it is common. All of my female students have been soaked with cold water on Easter Monday. And the "beating" is mostly symbolic, but sometimes drunk men still leave bruises. It's a "skeleton" that's very much alive.
That is SO bizarre I can't even believe it! That sure wouldn't fly here, thank goodness! I remember when we had a foreign exchange student from Sweden with us for 6 months. Easter is weird there, too...full of witches and other strange, bizarro stuff! God Bless America, huh? Happy Easter, Mandy!
